Don't know if you've noticed BUT there have been a proliferation of College Marching Bands performing at High Schools all over the area this fall! What a boon for our teenagers!
The three I have seen certainly provide an excellent cross section of marching styles and musical selections. One would hope that our young musicians are inspired to join one of these very fine organizations!
It is also fantastic to see the teenager's faces light up when they see a 150-250 piece Marching Band take the field. None of our current marchers were around for those heady days of the late 1970's, 80's and early 90's when their very own schools had marching bands that size and bigger.
(Why exactly this is I will explore in a later post...)
